Graduate School Overview
Class schedules to suit each student
We have introduced both daytime and nighttime sessions for adults, including those who are currently working. We also take into consideration schedules and facility use, and open the university library outside of regular hours. This allows us to accept students from all walks of life.
The classes for a single year are offered in two semesters--the first semester from April 1 to September 23, and the second semester from September 24 to March 31.

Completion Requirements
Master's Programs
Students must be enrolled for at least two years, and earn the specified number of credits (30 credits minimum). For completion of the program to be certified, the student must finish a master's thesis (or equivalent work in place of a thesis) with research guidance, and pass the master's thesis review and final examination.
Doctoral Programs
Students must be enrolled for a total of at least three years, and earn the specified number of credits (8 credits minimum). For completion of the program to be certified, the student must finish a doctoral thesis with research guidance, and pass the doctoral thesis review and final examination. If the doctoral thesis cannot be completed during the period of enrollment, the candidate will retain the right to obtain the program doctorate for three years after leaving the school. If more than three years pass, the candidate will be granted a doctoral degree by thesis only.

Master's Program in Japanese Literature and Calligraphic Culture

The Master's Program in Japanese Literature and Calligraphic Culture has a curriculum combining literature, the voice of the spirit, and calligraphy, the graphical expression of the spirit. The program develops practical researchers and research-oriented practitioners who can play a leading role in responding to an era of spirituality, internationalization and lifelong learning.

Master's Program in Intercultural Studies
To cultivate people who understand other cultures and can contribute to international society
Due to today's rapid internationalization and mixing of different cultures, there is no way to cope with ethnic conflict, environmental problems, and increasingly complex social problems without mutual cooperation and understanding between cultures. The Master's Program in Intercultural Studies produces human resources who can contribute to local communities and international society, and thereby foster interaction between different cultures and peaceful coexistence.
